Une thèse inti­tu­lée “Mur de fer”, écrite par Jabo­tins­ky (un lea­der russe sio­niste) illustre la volon­té sio­niste en 1923 de déve­lop­per une colo­ni­sa­tion à l’abri d’un mur que “la popu­la­tion indi­gène ne pour­rait pas per­cer”. Cela fait main­te­nant 20 ans qu’Israël a com­men­cé à construire ce mur de sépa­ra­tion de 760 km de long en Cis­jor­da­nie (Pales­tine occu­pée) et plus de 15 ans depuis qu’il a été consi­dé­ré comme illé­gal par l’ONU. Suite logique du régime d’Apartheid ins­tau­ré dès 1948, année de la créa­tion de l’Etat israé­lien, ce mur s’érige pour com­plé­ter la ségré­ga­tion tis­sée par des lois racistes, par l’expropriation et la colonisation.

Le but de cette confé­rence est de vous mon­trer ce qui se cache au-delà de ce mur.
On insis­te­ra notam­ment sur la façon dont la socié­té israé­lienne et la com­mu­nau­té inter­na­tio­nale res­tent voi­lées face à la situa­tion dra­ma­tique actuelle en Pales­tine. Nos deux intervenant.es, ayant vécu là-bas, chacun.e d’un côté dif­fé­rent du mur, témoi­gne­ront de leurs expé­riences res­pec­tives et appro­fon­di­ront les sujets spé­ci­fiques que sont l’éducation et la mili­ta­ri­sa­tion de la socié­té israélienne.

Notre pre­mière inter­ve­nante est Dima Issa. Dima est diplô­mée de l’Université libre de Bruxelles en anthro­po­lo­gie. Elle est éga­le­ment ex-membre du comi­té BDS de l’ULB.

Notre deuxième inter­ve­nant est Eitan Bron­stein. C’est un édu­ca­teur israé­lien. En 2015, il a cofon­dé De-Colo­ni­zer, research and art labo­ra­to­ry for a social change.

A the­sis name “Iron Wall” deve­lo­ped by Jabo­tins­ky (Rus­sian Zio­nist lea­der) in 1923 illus­trates the wish of the Zio­nists to per­pe­tuate the colo­ni­za­tion of Pales­tine behind a wall which “the native popu­la­tion can­not breach”. For 20 years now, Israel has star­ted to build that 760 km long wall of sepa­ra­tion in the occu­pied ter­ri­to­ries of Pales­tine. 15 years ago the UN consi­de­red the wall to be ille­gal. Com­ple­men­ta­ry to the poli­tics of the Apar­theid regime, the iron wall is built to enforce the segre­ga­tion and racist laws, the expro­pria­tion and colo­ni­za­tion of Palestine.

The aim of the confe­rence is to shed light on what is hap­pe­ning beyond this wall of Zio­nism. We will focus on how the Israe­li socie­ty and the inter­na­tio­nal com­mu­ni­ty stay blind on the dra­ma­tic situa­tion for the Pales­ti­nians. Our two spea­kers come each one from on side of the wall and will talk about how edu­ca­tion and mili­ta­ri­za­tion of the Israe­li socie­ty play an impor­tant role on the ongoing sta­tu quo.

Dima Issa will be our first spea­ker. She stu­died Anthro­po­lo­gy at the free Uni­ver­si­ty of Brus­sels and was mem­ber of the BDS committee.

Eitan Bron­stein is an Israe­li edu­ca­tor who cofoun­ded De-Colo­ni­zer a research and art labo­ra­to­ry for social change.
